FC United Of Manchester - The Soul Is One

Home is Away For FCUoM

By Paul Edmundson

LEIGH RMI have given FC United of Manchester a boost ahead of Saturday’s landmark meeting of the two clubs.
Technical difficulties meant FCUoM organisers would find it hard to get an
away kit ready in time for their first ever match, so the visitors only had
the red and white home shirt available.
But when FCUM staff alerted Leigh about a possible colour clash, RMI bosses
went extra lengths to solve a possible stumbling block – sending a squad’s
worth of kits on a 160-mile round trip in time for match day.
RMI chairman Bill Taylor said: “We were speaking to FCUoM officials earlier
in the week and the issue of the kit came up. I said we would be playing in
our red and white kit with our new sponsors.
“Then I found out about the problems getting and FCUoM away kit ready in
time so we had to do something about it.”
He added: “I got in touch with our kit suppliers in Nottingham and they
agreed to resolve the issue. We sent down a batch of our away kit from last
season and they removed the old sponsors and put the new ones on.
“So we will be playing in yellow on Saturday and FCUoM will be playing red
and white.
“We appreciate that it is a special occasion for the visitors. They will
want it to be symbolic day and playing in the home kit and the traditional
colours will be very important. We want to help in any way possible.”
